My Social Networks Soups

As usual, one of my kids came into class wearing a hilarious shirt that frankly didn't make much sense.  Most t-shirts over here that have English writing don't make sense.  Even so, you still should not go around reading people's shirts and pointing and laughing! I made that mistake several times when I first got here (and again last weekend when I was drunk).  APPARENTLY people think it's rude or something. I don't get it.

Anyway, back to the kid's shirt.  Yes, that is a Simpsons' Duff beer can you are seeing which, after listening to the children talk about how much soju and maek ju their parent's drink, isn't too suprising to see on a children's shirt.

What do you think about it? Should I look for one in my size?

  1. Oh my god, I've heard about soju. My Korean classmate said she once fell asleep in the street because of it!

and yes. Buy that shirt. I think you should arrive back in the US with a box full of t-shirts that make absolutely no sense at all. When people call you out on it you can just look at them smugly and say something like, "It makes sense in Korean." Even if it doesn't.

By the time I started listening to Korean music, they were already on an extended hiatus. Their latest album has proven that good things come to those who wait. It wins the award for album of the year in my opinion (BIG BANG's Alive and Still Alive were EPs and special editions respectively). I don't know if there was a blue moon when they were recording, because every song on the album is perfection. I love the way they rap over different genres. Sometimes alternative rock, sometimes electronic, sometimes pop, sometimes R&B, etc. It's a great combination and reintroduces the genre in a different way. Even if you're not into rap (or listening to a song you may not u...

Why I will never drive in Korea: Reason #32

I honestly don't know how this happened, but I'm really not that surprised. My theory is the first car was stopped, and the second car slowly continued to push forward? Look at that angle! I would not want to get out of that car. AWKWARD. More pics after the jump!
